00:44:54 Boeing: Artikel über die „Findings“ zum Door-Plug Vorfall

aus dem oben zitierten Artikel!

Date
9/1 Fuselage enters the factory. Five flawed rivets near the left door plug are identified, and Boeing asks Spirit to fix the rivets.
After Boeing inspection, mechanics get the OK to install insulation blankets, which covered the door plug.
9/6 Boeing does a quality inspection.
9/8 Spirit deems the rivets are acceptable to use as-is.
9/11 Boeing finds the rivets to be unacceptable and asks Spirit to rework them.
9/14 In Boeing’s informal factory messaging board, rivet work is elevated to second-level managers.
9/15 A Spirit manager tells Boeing that the door plug needs to be opened before mechanics can work on the rivets. Boeing begins coordinating for access to rework the rivets.
9/17 Rivet rework is elevated to the attention of third-level managers.
9/18 A Spirit contractor goes into the airplane to see if the door is open. The stand to hold it is in place but the door isn’t open.
The mid-exit door plug is opened. No documentation of this is entered in the official, FAA-required record of this aircraft’s assembly.
An entry is made in the internal system that says access is now available and a Spirit mechanic will be assigned to work.
A Spirit contractor removes the rivets and cleans holes. Boeing orders additional rivets from its factory in Everett.
A Spirit contractor checks and finds the door is still open.
The „Move Crew“ team comes to close up the plane for weather protection so it can move outside. They see the plug opened and lying horizontally on the stand. The plane doesn’t move.
9/19 A Spirit contractor replaces the rivets. Boeing inspects and approves rework.
The mid-exit door plug is closed. No inspection is carried out because the opening and closing were not recorded in the internal system.
9/20 A Boeing quality assurance manager signs off that the rivet work is done.
Airplane 8789 is rolled out of the factory.
